□ Necessity and Significance of Big Data-based Tourism Analysis
◯ The focus has shifted from a statistics-centered approach to a data-centered one, and agencies now use behavior-based big data analysis to diagnose the current tourism status of the region and implement timely tourism policies.
◯ To understand tourists’ movement patterns, Jeonbuk must go beyond simple data analysis and comprehensively reinterpret the length of stay, movement structures, and tourism flows. Jeonbuk should use these analytical insights as a key foundation for establishing sustainable tourism policies.
□ Jeonbuk Tourism Attraction Network: Hubs and Peripheral Areas
◯ Analysis of the Jeonbuk tourist attraction network reveals that the tourism network structure centers on several cities and counties that serve as strong tourism hubs. These areas possess infrastructure that offers a range of diverse tourism experiences.
◯ In contrast, regions with low centrality show weak connectivity. Since these areas lack core tourism hubs, tourists rarely perceive them as independent destinations, which limits their competitiveness.
◯ Jeonbuk needs to develop linked tourism products, improve transportation convenience, and strengthen the independent competitiveness of these regions
□ Movement Patterns of Jeonbuk Tourists: Concentrated Within a Single City or County
◯ Among all tourism movements in Jeonbuk, 78.3% occurred within the same city or county, indicating that tourism activities remain highly localized.
◯ Limited interregional tourism shortens the length of stay and prevents tourists from forming longer travel routes or overnight itineraries. This situation reduces tourism spending and weakens the tourism industry’s contribution to the local economy. Jeonbuk needs strategies to promote interregional tourism.
□ Key Tasks
◯ First, Jeonbuk must develop an administrative and financial support system to analyze tourists’ purposes of visit, travel routes, lengths of stay, and spending patterns.
◯ Second, Jeonbuk should innovate its tourism transportation model and establish a comprehensive transportation system that links cities and counties. This system includes building a regional circulatory metropolitan tourism transit network and introducing a mobile-based integrated transportation pass (Transit & Tourism Pass).
◯ Lastly, Jeonbuk should establish a big data-based operating system connected to local festivals and commercial areas that can analyze visitor flows, spending patterns, social media effect, and accommodation and transportation connectivity across major regional tourism sites.
