1. Research Objectives and Methodology
❚ Research Background and Objectives
○ This study aims to formulate policy measures and implementation strategies to: (i) welcome and foster solidarity with youth from around the world in a spirit of hospitality, (ii) embed the themes of World Youth Day (WYD) within the local community, and (iii) leverage WYD as a catalyst for regional development.
❚ Methodology and Scope
○ The scope of this research encompasses: (a) developing support measures for the successful hosting of the Jeonju Diocesan WYD events, and (b) identifying strategies and priority tasks to position Jeonbuk as an international hub for spiritual culture.
○ To achieve these objectives, the study adopts a rational-analytic framework comprising three stages: (1) environmental analysis, (2) derivation of key implications, and (3) formulation of strategic tasks. Specifically, the macro-environment was assessed using the PEST framework, while the micro-environment was analyzed through the 3Cs model. Key implications were synthesized via SWOT analysis, and strategic directions were subsequently articulated using the TOWS matrix.
2. Conclusions and Policy Recommendations
❚ Strategic Directions and Initiatives for “WYD for All” and an “International Hub of Spiritual Culture”
○ This study defines “WYD for All” as its primary objective and, building on this momentum, seeks to establish Jeonbuk as a pivotal international hub for hospitality-based spiritual culture. Accordingly, it proposes strategic recommendations to support the successful hosting of the Jeonju Diocesan events and to advance Jeonbuk as a center for K-spiritual culture.
○ Specifically, the study emphasizes fostering an inclusive WYD environment through voluntary resident participation and a community-wide culture of hospitality. Furthermore, it identifies post-WYD initiatives aimed at sustaining a global hub dedicated to coexistence, healing, and long-term international engagement.
